Rick, about 4 years ago I was lucky enough to buy a pair of f1 Philly Zoo stock Knoblochi that are from San Juanito and aren't related to any of the other three or four lines in the states. The only reason I got them was just to have some new blood. Well, in (08) I bred them for the first time and to my surprise one of the six babies that hatched was that candycane. There was one more dead in the egg that was also a candycane.I figured it was genetic but I still can't be 100% sure.In (09) I only got three good eggs but again I hatched one more candycane so I am pretty sure this is just another simple recessive gene. Last year I got all slugs so nothing to show. This is the first year doing any back breeding so when this clutch hatches I should know more. What I do know is they are pure knoblochi and they don't have the applegate blood in them although I am pretty sure its pretty much the same kind of gene at work. L8r Shannon
p.s. my f1 pair bred again this year as well and she is about to lay so maybe another one or two from that clutch as well.
