Top view of my typical rosy cage. The water bowl is used as a hide, not a water bowl. It sits under a Pearco 30 Watt CHE. The CHE warms through the bowl into the substrate a bit.

To make the distance between the CHE and the rosy closer, I just increased the depth of the substrate.

The granite rock is there for the opposite reason. It tends to stay cooler than the surroundings as long as the nights cool down. My thought was that the rosy will butt up against it to cool off. My rosies spend 98% of the time under the hide below the CHE however, so the rock is probably a decoration only in reality. Rock and rosy parents are from the desert outside of Palm Springs.
