More than anything I have seen big color changes occur in sub-adults from fall to spring, where they go in more drab juvie coloration and then emerge more bright yellow and black, especially 3-5 yr olds . Not any big gains in weight of course but I have had some measure slightly bigger and weigh a couple grams more, of course some loose a few too.
