Hissing cockroach

I have a small colony of hissers and am constantly fighting to keep them in the container. I have a strip of petroleum jelly around the edge which keeps the adults in no problem. The nymphs however appear to be unaffected by it. Any solutions? I have them in a rubbermaid.
