Our striped jungle project is one we have been working on for several years now. It really started when we purchased Skunk back in 2004. Since about 2005 I have been anxiously awaiting getting a clutch from Skunk and one of our nicest striped females, Flower. Last year we got a clutch from her, but it was small and mostly slugs. Only one hatchling made it, but it was a very nicely striped female, so that was a big time score!

This year we ended up getting a much better clutch from Flower. Started with 14 eggs and ended up with 11 apparently healthy little ones, pretty much all of which have at least some striping, and 5 or 6 have really nice striping. So, our work in bringing together two fairly independent striped lineages has paid off!!! This is by far the best striped jungle clutch we have ever hatched out...but to top it all off we got a little male that in our minds brings us one step closer to our dream striped jungle. He not only has an almost completely unbroken dorsal stripe, but awesome lateral striping as well!!!

We also got an abnormally red baby in this clutch too. At first I thought it looked like Roger's weird one from a couple years back, but it does not have a pink tongue. Still is a pretty cool looking little jungle!

Enough words, here are some pics. Once again, sorry I am not a good photographer at all, but these should give you a good idea of what these little ones look like out of the egg. Obviously more pics will follow as soon as they have shed and aren't so shiny and dull.

The whole clutch

Here is the little red one
