I think most of the good care sheets do recommend a slightly more humid hide, or the ability to burrow in a soil mix, and thus let them create a slightly more humid hide for themselves. I suspect the reason so few people who aren't breeders implement these is a mix of the fact that in general they really do seem to do well without them (observationally at least), and the fact that these can be daunting or tricky to get right to a novice herper. I have no data to back any of that up however.
