Well, you can always try a common trick for large snakes that don't let go - keep a small spray bottle of cheap vodka handy.if it holds on again, spray it so that a couple drops go in the gecko's mouth. If they're anything like a Burmese, they'll let go pretty quick. Also, did you try holding your hand under running water? That usually encourages them to release, too.
