personally, i dont feel that there is such thing as "too large of a cage".



i always recommend as large enclosure as you can do for the snake.



there are many factors that support both little smaller cages vs as big of cage you can do.



biggest ones are: money, space, being able to heat and provide proper humidity (which can be tough, bigger the cage)



also, another factor is: keeping (breeding) vs keeping one or two as a pet.



if breeding, stackable little bit smaller enclosures are more reasonable, if a pet, you can go as elaborate as you can (again, assuming you can provide proper microenvironment for the snake(s)
