I think that falls more along the lines of a personal preference question rather than what the snake would prefer. I have three jcp and an irian jaya. The jcp have a home built cage with two horizontal rods and a platform. They use both, and will also be on the floor of the cage. The irian jaya has the fake bamboo with suction cups. He will use that and will also be found moving about on the floor of his cage. Basically I guess whatever you feel like using will be fine by the snake as far as shape goes. Hope it helps.
