Since they were eating at least a bit on their own, I decided to try not hand feeding them. When my husband daughter went out of town and I moved them back in (because it was too hard to take care of them outside in the double cage by myself) I resisted the urge to go back to hand feeding, even though they didn't eat the first couple of days again. I just kept enticing them with squash, putting the same dish in the same spot every day. Eventually, they started eating more and now they are pretty much cleaning their plates, whether they have squash or just greens!
