We are always cautious with our Johnii's they bite. And like Chris described lunge around their cage when we walk in the room. They are always hungry and feed readily. Just like any sand boa, their bite is not something you'll get much sympathy for. Although, Jenn had an adult female latched onto her hand for in excess of 30 minutes last week. It was pretty cool but I never thought to get a picture of it. Great snakes but not for someone who has a fear of being bitten.
