Thanks for all the info. I'll have two thermometers, one for each side of the tank, and I do have a small temp gun. I was thinking 60 watt, so that's obviously overkill! I've seen stacked hides for garters before; I think I'll try that as well. I'll post pictures of the set-up when I have it arranged.
