If you see a snake on the road while you are traveling between walking areas you could pull off the road, turn off the car, park, and collect the snake as it slithered off the roadway. Although I guess that you could theroetically walk along the shoulder of the road - or even in the road for that matter - with a flashlight and collect snakes on the roadway, just not from a vehicle.
