Tell me how long your burm is so I can give you a better idea of an appropriate sized rat for it.
I would definitely stop feeding it mice unless it's in bad health & desperately needing nutrition. I have better luck getting snakes switched from one prey species to another by using a slightly smaller prey. For instance - maybe try scenting a weanling rat with a mouse, with the weanling rat heated up to around 92 degrees(F). If the burm refuses, wait another 5 - 7 days and try again. As long as its healthy, ride the storm out & don't cater to it being finnicky. The sooner you get it switched, the better. You don't want to have to feed an 8ft burm a huge colony of mice.
My opinion is that Burmese Pythons should never even see a mouse or any live prey (mice/rats/rabbits, etc...). They should be started out on rats & switched to rabbits when they're 7 - 8 feet long.
Hang in there! HH ----- Due to political correctness run amuck, this ol' hillbilly is now referred to as an: Appalachian American
