I have lived all over the US and was fortunate to be able to herp almost every region. You always have great pics. No matter where I live I hike, camp and herp almost every weekend. But I have never been to Montana or Idaho. I took my herping to a new level three years ago and the thrill could not be greater. I got an underwater camera, wet suit and gogles and started free diving ponds, streams and rivers. Talk about a whole new world. I have hit almost every river in Arizona and Oregon. The things I have seen are amazing. I just moved to the Sierra Nevada Range just west of Truckee/Tahoe and I am having a blast. In your pictures I see several shallow ponds, lakes, and streams. Perfect for what I do. I would love to hit your area. However I am concerned about water temps that far north. Does the water warm up by August? When I say warm I mean at leat 55 degrees. While I am going to enjoy the Sierras for the rest of the year I would love to see your area next summer. I know it is a long ways out but maybe we could get together in your neck of the woods. Maybe You would like to hit the water with me and see whole new world of herps. In return I could offer you a trip to my familys ranch in the sierras. I have been here for a week and I am floored by the herps I am seeing. I usually hit areas that see no human activity. The ranch is loaded with animals. Deer eat on our front porch, bear, mountain lion, and coyotes roam all afternoon. Nothing like finding a california king and a california mountain king under the same rock. Very unigue micro climate and envirnment. Besides herps I find all kinds of lost articles in the streams. I found a confederate belt buckle in Arizona. I also find a small amount of gold too. Oregon was amazing!! I have never seen so many snakes in my life (except Bellview Washington). Sorry about the long post but I can see from your pics that I need to get up there before I am too old to handle cold water. Let me know if you are interested. Thanks for the awesome pics.
