Hi.
I am considering geting a lizard for my 9 yr old daughters birthday. She loves catching wild lizards and letting them climb on her. So I've narrowed it down to two choices. Obviously, the leopard gecko would be easiest and cheapest to care for, however, I personally have been very unimpressed by those I have met (we had two at the preschool where I worked) they just sat there and we never handled them. I asked my sister inlaw if her son's has personality and she said he was cool to look at but they didn't take it out so she didn't know. When I think of a beardie which I have never met, only researched, I picture a lizard that hangs out with it's owner. I read that the gecko should only be handled a couple of times a week. Maybe that would be enough interaction for my daughter, but how would the gecko feel about it? Is it the type of lizard that is going to suddenly scurry away and under a large piece of furnature, or like the beardie, will it hang out?
Thanks for any input you have.
