Sadly, Arwen failed to thrive and despite multiple vet visits she passed away last Sunday. She had struggled with a bacterial skin disease, but the necropsy revealed that she also had an impacted bowel. What is important about this impacted bowel is that Arwen had daily poops that looked healthy and contained urates right up until the day before she died. This floored me because I did not think poops were possible with the kind of impaction that the vet described. My friend who works with wild iggies (and has 9 of her own) said she thinks she was just a weak iggy who was shipped too young. The vet is holding her body for us so we can go pick her up and bring her home to bury properly.

But the part I am curious about is, has anyone heard of an iggy pooping though there was a bad impaction? Arwen was 3.8 inches SVL, by the way.
