Yes, there are many ways to tell, and all are common sense.

No magic or trickery.

If the niles in question is the same price range as other pet trade niles, its wild caught. If its from a source thats normally selling imports, then its wild caught.

If the seller does not have and will not provide proof that is captive bred and hatched, like a series of pictures showing caging, breeding adults, incubation, etc, then its wild caught.

The simple fact that NO ONE is breeding them. Which means, zero are hatched on a regular basis. What are the real changes a dealer is selling real captive hatched.

If you take it to the vet and it has african parasites, its wild caught. This is a very good way, only it reveals the truth after the monitor is acquired.
