Hi.
Id like to convert a rodent cage into a habitat for a crested gecko. The cage measures:29 " high by 24 " wide by 18 1/4" deep. It is wire all they way around. I thought I could cover 3 sides and the top with heavy plastic to increase humidity. However I have two concerns. Is it ok for the gecko to climb around on the wire - there are three levels with wire ramps - I will of course add foliage and more natural climbing structures to the cage. Second, our house gets cold at night...we don't use the heater often so it can get down to 55*F maybe less occationally. Is there a night time light that can help with heat in such an open container, or maybe a heating rock would be better. Or maybe covering the cage with a blanket at night would suffice.
I guess I may need a day light too in the winter, sometimes the house gets down to 65* during the day.
I would appriciate any advice you have.

Thanks!
