Earlier today I received my very first green anaconda! I purchased it from Karl Hermann. As you probably already know, his female, Anna Banana, gave birth to a bunch of squiggly little worms. I've been wanting to add one to my collection for a while now and have been patiently waiting on some captive bred babies to become available.

After seeing the pictures and sharing his experience with the forum, I decided to contact Karl and see if he'd be willing to part with a little male... and the rest is history! A few emails back and forth and my first anaconda arrived into eager and excited hands.

I've been keeping snakes for a while now. I've opened many boxes and containers full of surprises, but I have never been as anxious to open one as I was today. And there he was! My little male green anaconda, packed perfect, neatly tucked away inside the box. Wow! I was overwhelmed with happiness. It just felt so unreal to actually own the snake I've been wanting for the longest time.

He's resting in his new home right now. I'm going to let him settle in for a couple weeks before offering him food. I couldn't help but take him out and hold him for a few more minutes this evening. He hasn't shown any aggression at all. He did give me a little nip on the back of the hand when initally holding him, but that was just a defensive strike. He is a very curious snake, constantly cruising and weaving through my fingers. Always on the move. No interest in nipping me any more.... at the moment, haha.

Karl told me both parents have been used in presentations and talks and both have great temperments. What more could you possibly ask for?

I've yet to name him, but he's already very special to me. I have some history of his parents, photos of the momma during pregnancy, photos of her with the babies, her cleaning up after giving birth... again, what more could you ask for? It almost feels like an adoption rather than a purchase.

And all of this thanks to Karl. I truly appreciate everything you have done for me. I'm more than happy with my little fella and he's found his way to a good home. Best of luck with the rest of your babies. I hope they all find owners who are as pleased as I am. Thank you.
