The is a lot of conflicting information too. But the information about heating, feeding, hiding is quite uniform and is a good starting point. Nesting is essential too, but you'll find lots of conflicting information on this subject.

Be patient, search the forums, read a lot, choose a species, and then, only then, you build a cage as adequate as possible, then you can start looking for a good animal.
