I keep my kenyans in the same room with some misc pythons. The sand boas therefore get roughly the same cycle for breeding as the pythons and it has worked very well over the past several years.

My room is kept between 80 & 82. The first of October I start a night drop of 8 to 10 degrees in the room and I also drop the rack heat at night to about 75/78 and back up to 88/90 during the day. I keep them like this until January and then start warming the racks and room back up to constant temps. I leave the night drop on the racks for another month or so but that is more of a convenience to me. Once I heat the basking spot back up to around 95 the kenyans start doing there thing. I see most of my copulations in late March and most females drop in late July or August. I had 21 females drop good healthy babies this year, although I will say the for some reason I got a lot of very small litters. I had 700 gram females drop only 12 or so babies with no still borns and no slugs. These same females will usually drop around twenty . Not sure what was going on there.

I only give humidity to those females having a bad shed and this is in the form of a humidity hide. I let them have the babies on the aspen bedding and have yet to see a problem.

This is how I do it but I know several breeders who follow very different guidelines and do very well. Like I said at the top, I do this mostly for the pythons but it works for many other species.

In my opinion, I think if you disrupt there normal temps/light for a month or so, give them the warmth back with lots of food, They will breed.
