I wouldn't do anything potentially harmful to my monitors. They're healthy, happy, and I state that from the fact that they seem to have natural responses to their surroundings appropriate to their age. Burrowing, climbing, digging, eating... NOT dying. Still defensive, and understandably so of course. My nile has grown in confidence in the past month.
