crested feeding issue

I got two fairly young geckos less than a year old and i been feeding them crickets in a small container. will this affect the geckos in the long run? by that i mean if i want to start feeding the geckos in the cage instead of taking them out to feed them. will that result in taking away from going after the crickets by themselves?
