Posted by: clown6933 at Thu Nov 17 16:21:43 2011 [ Report Abuse ] [ Email Message ] [ Show All Posts by clown6933 ] i have a adult male blue tailed monitor. ive raised him since a hatchling. i was told it was cbb but i now no better than that. i started him off in a 40 gallon then 125 and then i built him a 8 by 4 by 8 tall enclosure. to get to my question ive raised him in peat moss from the day i got him. its impossiable to give a deep layer in a glass cage. so when i built his big cage i made it so it holds 24 inches of soil. so i filled it up and he threw it all over wich seemed to make him happy so i was happy. well i just moved into a new house and when i setup his enclosure again i used a dirt from a buddys local sand pit. its like clay dirt and sand. so i put him in and he went to town throwing it all over. got up the next morning and he created some impressive tunnels. problem is i havent seen him in almost 6 days now. he hasnt come out to eat and his water bowl is clean as well. i dont want to disturb him if hes just doin his thing but at the same point he dosent ever miss a meal and its not often he dosent take a swim in his 30 gallon pond. he has great body weight always sheds great and feisty as hell wich from what i read is a good thing. i dont want to stress him but dont want to not do anything if hes not doin ok. but im thinking the body weight he has and hes always hydrated could he go down hill that quick being a healty animal i could see a sick unhealthy animal having problems. what you think. my adult peach throat is fine doin his daily routine. same setup just diffrent enclosure. sorry for rambling just concerned. i got alot of time and attachment in this awesome predator. any sugestions.
