On the rare occasion that I've put my hands on a venomous snake, traction has never been a problem. On the VERY rare occasion that I've needed to hold one behind the head, I've wanted as much tactile feedback as I could possibly get. Anything that might interfere with that in the slightest would make me even more nervous...
