Every time i hear about that whole beat to the bone subject again, i don't know wether to laugh or cry. Ok, so there are pets (that in this case happen to be reptiles, but ANY kind of pet can escape)roaming free around the Everglades. And YES, i might even give it to them: it's quite possible that they are reproducing. But the media just doesn't know what to do to make it any more sensationalist, they want the viewers at home to cover their faces in terror, so... ignorance seems the best weapon. Wich, in this case, happens to be BOTH the ignorance of the public AND the reporters. Somehow, they figured that calling an afrock or a burm a "threat" just wasn't scary enough anymore, so they decided to go all "B-movie plot" on this and started to scare people with the possibility (for crying out loud) of hybrid offspring being born in the wild. Ohh, the fear!!!So, let me get this straight: they are worried that burms and afrocks, wich take a great deal of effort to cross on purpose in captivity, just start making little pythons in the wild like there's no tomorrow AND (get's even better) the real danger will be those "cateaters"... a snake proven to actually grow smaller than both parents???
Please... Get real.
