While they are technically hybrids (natural intergrades ARE hybrids), the parent species are very similar, and natural ranges overlap. A reptile example would be the "greenish" rat snake, happening when black rats and yellow rats crossbreed.it is technically a naturally occurring hybrid, albeit from 2 closely related snakes from the same family; unlike say,a jungle corn, which can only happen in captivity.
if the shark had been a cross between a nurse and bull shark, for example, the debate wouldn't be happening in the first place. But since both species were blacktips to begin with, the offspring wouldn't appear unusual.
