It's not about weekly soaks or ambient air humidity. It's about areas within the enclosure that hold consistent levels of humidity, areas that the lizard can rely on, and settle into for extended time periods of its own choosing -- not yours. Deep substrates, proper hides, and, uh... deep substrates. Deep substrate seems to be a recurring theme w/ the proper keeping of these lizards, huh?

They will dig down deep, to where it is cool and moist, and stay there for hours at a time. Sometimes they'll wanna be warm and moist. Want to step up your game, and be uber smart? Offer it both choices. :O

By the way, varanids do not regenerate body parts. Do some more research.
