I am building my new reptile room and am in process of building the enclosures for my caimans. I would post there but the croc forum has been dead. Since monitors also need large enclosures and many have some sort of pond and/or plumbing firgured a good place to ask. First question is what is the effect of hard water on reptiles especially ones that spend most of their time in water like crocs and turtles? I am moving to the country and obviously have a well hence the hard water. My second question is about plumbing. I want to put a drain in the bottom of the preformed pond (prob going with a shower drain). Is it ok to use the bonding agent for pvc? (the purple stuff)will it effect the water? My plans are i am elevating the pond off the ground and to drill whole in pond and placfe in shower drain and then run a pvc pipe out throught the front wall and put a shut off on the end. There is a drain in the middle of the reptile room so this way when I have to do a water change in the reptile room i can just hook up a hose turn the shut off valve and drain the pond. ----- Tom 0.0.1 California King Snake 0.1.1 Sulcata Tortoise 0.0.2 Russian Tortoise 0.0.7 Red Ear Sliders 1.0.0 Bearded Dragon 1.1.0 Cuvier's Dwarf Caiman 0.1.0 Love Bird ( KIKI ) 1.2.0 Dog (layla, Roxy and Rosco) 2.2.0 Crazy Cats (babe, sabastian, tinkerbell and sadie) 0.1.0 Lion Head Rabbit (daisy) 0.0.1 Spectacled caiman 0.0.1 Mexican Red Knee Tarantula 1.0.0 Veiled Chameleon 0.0.1 Argentina Black and White Tegu 2.2.0 Columbian Red Tail Boas 1.2.0 Kenya Sand Boas 1.0.0 Ball Python 1.0.0 Western Hognose Snake 1.0.0 Chocolate Skunk 1.1.0 Corn snakes
