Hello Dav46,

I think you have answered your own question in some ways. Monitors do scent mark or use pheromones to communicate with other monitors. They also use body language and vocalize hissing sounds at times. You say it is lifting and everting and I'm not certain whether they disperse scent in that way or if it is a "stretch" of sort or display. Mine often rub down or deficate/urate and rub down. I have too seen what you are speaking of but the exact reason they evert while lifting up ??? Best to You- Mike S
