Hi, I purchased a 5 feet ATB and I've been doing a lot of research but I just want to make sure her new home is perfect. I am housing her in a 40 gallon breeder tank (36 by 18 by 16inch). I have covered 2/3 of the screen top with a piece of glass for humidity. I am using a 150 watt heat emitter resting on the screen top at one end of the tank. I notice that the temperature on the cooler end is still 85 degrees. I am worried because I'm afraid the wattage from the heat emitter might be too hot if the cool end is still at 85 degrees? Also, the hygrometer still reads 45 percent after I misted the tank a few times today, when the ATB tank should be at 70-80%. Can you guys please give me any advice on getting my humidity level higher or what I am doing wrong. Also, is the wattage light bulb too high for my heat emitter? Is there something else that I should be using instead of a heat emitter like a different type bulb?? Like is the wattage too high that it will prevent the humidity from increasing. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!
