Designing a biome terrarium for toad

I would like to design a naturalistic biome terrarium in a 10 gallon tank for a Great Plains toad. Anyone have any ideas? I would like to maybe construct a burrow that can be seen through the glass but I don't know if this would stress the toad out or not. Any ideas on substrate and plants?
