Two days ago, I discovered that my poor beardie Anubis (he's almost 7) was very sick. His beard was black and his coloring was off (more yellow and lighter than usual). He showed signs of dehydration as well. Just the day before he appeared fine.

We rushed him to the vet and she felt something that she suspected was a tumor on or around his liver. An X-ray has confirmed a mass and blood work is inconclusive.

So I'm faced with a very difficult decision: Do I go ahead and put him through what may be a long recovery (or worse)? Or do I opt for euthanasia? The cost of the surgery and follow-up adds another $834 to what we have already paid for diagnosis and hospitalization.

My heart is broken.
