My gray-banded has a slow-growing lump near his vent. My vet took a sample via needle and says it isn't cell-based. He checked the hemipenes and said it's not an infection there. The vet believes it is an encased abcess and he's planned surgery to open it and clean it out (he says he will make as small an opening as possible). My vet is the one who treats the reptiles at the zoo in my town, and I believe he's very good, and I'm hoping he's right. But I'm very nervous, as I'm very attached to this snake (I've had him 13 years). I'm worried about him going under anesthesia. Anyone else have this happen to their snake?
