They are preserved in a few different ways, as far as I can tell. SOme are cooked, some are freeze dried. Both methods probably not all that easy to do at home without a pressure cooker or some means to ensure a totally sterile seal/process, otherwise they will just rot in the can.
I am sure if you google it you may come up with ways to preserve crickets. A simple way probably be to just freeze them, but this may must end up with a mushy mess when thawed. ----- PHLdyPayne
