We're fairly new to beardies and got our first one a few months ago from a family who didn't want him any more. Then, a few days ago, another family all but begged us to take in theirs as well (a female). We'd like to keep them together to save on some space.
My question is how to introduce them. I did a short trial introduction, but the male freaked out, displaying his beard/spikes and making occasional lunges (fortunately no biting). The female was very calm and approached the male, putting her front foot on his back and licking him. I only left them together for about five minutes as I could see he was going to get stressed.
Is this common? The female is very social and the male less so. Both are used in educational presentations and are not aggressive toward people.
Anyone have any tricks?
