Hey Jorge, they do both, you can keep them together in winter, and they will mate.
Or if you prefer to keep them separate, you can introduce them like a "regular" colubrid in spring.

I know what you refer to on keeping bonded groups, I used to follow the kingsnake forum, and also find it difficult to understand, perhaps there is a basis for that, but yes, whats wrong with being careful???
I had two Epicrates which I kept together and more often than not they would take the same prey item. And one lost an eye in such a situation.
That said, this doesnt seem to happen in Liophis sp.
Sorry to digress but snakes have more things in common than things that separate them.

So to end on subject, you can do both,
