Russian Rat Snake cage

Im wondering if the 48 inch NPI cage would work for the russian rat my main concern is that it wont provide enough height for them. Also Im unsure as to how to properly heat this type of cage does under the tank work or is a basking lamp my best bet. Im currently a college student so im trying to slowly save up to afford all this which is why im trying to have all this planned out. any adive or experiences youve had with NPI cages would be great.
