my personal use is as follows... it's probably a little over kill for most people, but gets the job done.
I clean every cage, place a small amount of aspen in the cage and dust it with rid. I let it dry about 10 min then replace the snake and water bowl.
I clean every cage in my room even if a particular snakes doesnt seem to have mites.
while i'm cleaning the cages i let the snakes soak in slightly warm water.
I also spray rid on the floor, base boards, corners, and window seals of my snakeroom.
about 8 days later i'll remove the snakes/bowls from the cages one by one and do a VERY light spray in each cage and replace the snakes/bowls a couple min later. i'll keep that bedding in the cage until I do normal full changes...usually every 30 to 45days.
Probably over kill for folks with 1000s of snakes, but for my single room of snakes it's not bad and i've had 100% success rate. years ago i would half ass it and do it quickly and usually had another mite problem a few weeks later.
