Yeah, makes me ashame to be from South Carolina, *sigh*. There's a thread on this in the Rat Snake forum, as well. I've commented time and time again on WIS and on WLTX, two local stations out of Columbia, but people are insisting that it's a 20-foot "Indonesian Black Python" or other asinine garbage. They watch "Anaconda" one time and they're snake experts now. It's not even a large TREE the snake is on; all it would take to solve the issue of the snake's size would be a tape measure to measure the trunk of the tree where the snake appears in the photos, then use some simple math to deduce the diameter of the snake in relation to the diameter of the tree.
Seriously, have any of these inbred morons ever seen a REAL 20-foot snake?
