Hello, wondering if anyone here knows of any good spots for Heterodon in Minnesota... I know both eastern and western species occur in the state but have never seen one in the wild myself. Minnesota is a tough state to herp, i spent years looking for fox snakes before stumbling upon a spot in the metro area. I have found around 20 fox snakes at this site over the past 2 years and 1 Lampropetlis triangulum triagulum (the only milksnake from MN I've personally seen). The milks from MN look a lot like fox snakes, had to check the anal plate to be sure. Never observed a live Pituophis in MN either but I would guess they can be found in good Heterodon habitat. I've heard Sherburne and Pine counties are good areas for Heterodon but if anyone with personal experience could narrow the search a bit... If anyone knows where and/or wants to go look I'm planning on 6/1 - 6/3 to give it a shot as this should be prime season. I live in Blaine, MN in Anoka county. Hope everyone's doing well!
