We "rescued" an alligator lizard we found in our street by buying a terrarium, crickets, water dish and heater, and I figured we'd house & feed him for a week for our kids before releasing him in a nearby undeveloped area .... until "he" laid 17 eggs the next day. Is there a good way to place the eggs back in nature to hatch on their own? Or, how long do we need to raise the hatchlings before they can be released? Is it safe to have the eggs in the terrarium with the mother, or do they have to be separated? This one-week visitor looks like she's going to be a longer project, which is OK, just not sure how to care for the little ones. Can anyone give some advice or references?

Thanks!
