“reproducing their entire life. Any thoughts?” that’s what I thought also or possibly if there was no mating she has spent her
retention of stored eggs/sperm content? Have your females always laid multiple clutches? I live in NE Ohio and my female the last
three years has laid in the second week of June like clock work. This year her pattern was 3 eggs in early May then a week late
1 big egg, huge, in the water dish followed by 2 weeks, late May, with 4 more eggs for a total of 8. I incubate the eggs and about all the eggs look questionable in terms of hatchings. Only 2 look like they might make it. Maybe it is my locale but it just seems like a strange year for box turtles....mine anyhow.

Thanks Alan
