I have found that bt's are relatively easy to breed. I introduce mine in mid to late December and copulation typically begins immediately. I do observe the initial introduction to make sure the female is a willing participate. The male is always willing - lol. If she offers a lot of resistance, I will separate them and retry again a few days later.
In regards to cycling, my night temps are in the mid 60's and day temps low 70's. I also adjust my lighting to correspond with that time of year.
In terms of age, most Dry breeders would suggest waiting to breed females until they are 4 yrs old. It sounds like you have a big girl since she is already 5' and not even 2 yrs old. I personally would wait until she is at least 3 years old and has good body weight before I bred her. This year I had a 5 yr old, 5.5' female that produced 16 beautiful eggs!
