I have a 7 year old Hermanns tortoise by herself. She laid her first eggs (non-fertile of course) around the age of 5. At the time she laid 4 eggs all at once in June. The next year she once again laid 4 eggs this time in November. I figured this was the normal pattern, 4 eggs a year. This year she laid 4 again in the Spring and I thought that was it. However since then she has laid 5 more bringing the total up to 9 and I'm not sure she's done yet. What's even stranger is she laid the last 5 at different times throughout the year, 2 at one point, then 1 a month later, then 2 this week.
Is this normal or is it possible that there is no 'norm' when it comes to laying eggs?
Additional info: She is an inside tortoise with heat/UV lamp but gets some Florida sun each day outside. She has full run of the downstairs during the day and sleeps in her home at night. She gets water (soaking) every day. Her diet is roughly 35% Orchard grass, 35% green leaf/romaine, 15% Flucker's tortoise food, 10% Hibiscus/Dandelion, 5% other (like banana on occasion).
