I think your last sentence said it Jonas. Many asian ratsnakes have that reputation and I think it's definatly due to reputations started from back when most asians that were available were wild caught.

While they do generally require different basic setups than most of the north american species, I've found ALL the asian species I've worked with have done very well and all have reproduced for me so far.

I keep most of my asians including moelendorffi cooler with higher humidity. Many people just keep them cool but I've found over time that all of them do better with a warm spot although not as warm as for north american species.

My moelendorffi are young still but have proven to be very hardy so far and growing like weeds.
