May have been late for Halloween but any time is a good time for Candy Striped BRB's!!!

Yes, there are now even More Super Candy Striped BRB's on the planet. I bred Zoe back to Ziggy again this year and I was really torn for a while, gravid or not. Adding to my confusion were two very close sheds marked down on her record card, 06/23 and 07/29. At this point I don't know if I mixed up sheds between Ziggy and Zoe or if she shed twice in that short span of time. Either way I had an early due date for on 10/18 that came and passed with no babies. Last year she went nine days past due date so I was still not convinced. The second due date was 11/03 and as time passed she was clearly gravid. A few weeks before her first due date I was unable to detect any fetal heart tones with my monitor so I was thinking not gravid. But, as the middle of October approached I was able to find them clearly and multiple ones. COOL!!! Then the wait, and more of the wait. I have never anticipated a BRB more nervously and hovering so much as this one. And like the proverbial watched pot she never seemed to boil.

The last week or so she's been constantly moving around slowly. Not so much that you'd notice unless you were constantly checking on her and could tell the coils were piled differently.

Last night she moved the furthest, from the floor to the water bowl. I swear I must have checked on her a half dozen times through the night. This morning she was half out of the water bowl and a few minutes later back n the floor all coiled up again. So off to work I go. Then after lunch my wife checked and found a pile of babies in the water bowl. I rushed home to care for them and I now have have 9 more candy line babies with two supers, a couple clear Candys, a few normals and a couple possible candys. So yet another clear indication of this being genetic - one of the key breeding trials is to replicate your results a second time - done!!!

Will get some pics up later, I was in a rush when I got home.

Thanks,

Dave Colling
