Living here in Vegas I have historically moved all my Colubrids out to a storage unit (indoors, non-insulated public storage unit). The weather here can be quite balmy some weeks even in the dead of winter.

As they represent a large % of my collection I looked into converting a small chest freezer into a brumation chamber.....no need for large quantities of feeders this time of year.

I bought a Johnson Controls A19AAT-2C Freezer Control Unit off of Amazon. Works like a charm! $55 well spent! Had it holding steady at 55F with minor adjusting in an hour.

Note, controllers like Helix/Herpstat will not work! Will end up burning out the compressor. This is an on/off type controller, has a long copper probe with a dial control. I do wish the dial calibration indicator was more detailed.....ie set at one line below 60 gets you to the low 50s so it does take a little tinkering.
