I've read many times in the past about how it was nearly impossible to have live plants in a beardy cage, but I've recently started switching all my tanks over to naturalistic terrariums, and I'm pretty hell-bent on trying to make it work for my beardy too! That being said, I'd love any constructive advice! I planned out a cage to make him that will be ~ 5'Lx3'Hx2'D. In one corner I wanted to make a 12x12x12" "rain garden" of sorts which could be flooded weekly for his bath. I was thinking of putting a hibiscus in there (I plan to tailer the custom made screen to allow for the full growth of a couple taller plants. Basically what advice I am most looking for is some plants that would thrive in this "tropical rain garden) and a other plants that would thrive in the dry parts of his cage, that are safe for him. Have you used live plants successfully before? Please tell me your stories! I was thinking some alfalfa, and some dandelions (with the roots and base of the plant protected so he could nibble the tops).
